Description: Founded in 1970, with its first release in 1975, Marqués de Cáceres has rapidly become the leader in the renaissance of Rioja. The bodega was established by Henri Forner, whose family has been active in the wine business for generations. The family fled Spain during the Spanish Civil War and settled in France. When Henri decided to establish a bodega in his homeland, he selected what he considered the finest viticultural area in Spain which he found in Rioja.
Today Cristina Forner, manages the winery with pride. The Forner family is one of the great Spanish wine families, known for producing high-quality wines, while the wines of Marqués de Cáceres and can be found globally in more than 120 countries now.
Tasting Note:
The Marques de Caceres Excellens reserva is an Intense, vivid, dark red colour. Attractive bouquet of blackberries and blackcurrants with notes of cocoa and sweet spice. Pleasantly full in the mouth with a good tannic structure and rich fruit flavours. Smooth and rounded with a nice fleshy texture and great length.
Food Match: You couldn't look past a medium rare lamb or beef fillet, served with roast potatoes drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with rosemary.
