Description:
Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most consistent and celebrated négoçiants, with a range that is universally adored from its classic Bourgogne to the finest Grand Cru. Established when Louis-Henri Jadot bought the Beaune Premier Cru monopole Clos des Ursules in 1826, the company passed to the Gagey family, who eventually sold it their long-term importer to the US, Kobrand. The company now boasts over 130 hectares of vineyards stretching from Chablis to Beaujolais, but it’s the quality of the wines that have made them a household name.
Tasting Note:
2019 was a warm and dry vintage in Burgundy, so yields were down, but the concentration and quality were through the roof. Which makes the Couvent des Jacobins a classic half bottle to have on hand when you fancy a little glass of liquid sunshine. Predominantly Côte d’Or fruit, with a little from Mâconnais, this Bourgogne Chardonnay is partly vinified in oak, adding weight and a delicate creaminess to the ripe fruit and zingy lemon of this crisp white. In this wine, Frédéric Barnier has created a brilliant posterchild for the delights and complexity of white Burgundy.
Food Match: Pairs with vegetable terrines, poultry & goat cheese.
