Description:
The Lurton brothers have had a presence in Argentina in 1992, when they began working as consultants to the Catena family. The brothers quickly realised Argentina’s potential for producing Grands Crus. They made their first wine in this style – a complex, well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon – in 1996. It won a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in London.

We perform green harvests to boost the concentration and ripening of the remaining grapes. The harvest date is set following a taste analysis. The grapes are harvested by hand in 20-kilo crates in late April or early May. Maceration lasting more than seven weeks in total. Malolactic fermentation followed by maturation in barrels for 12 months. Maturation in French oak (85%) and American oak (15%) barrels for 14 to 16 months with regular racking. The barrels are 50% second-fill and 50% third-fill.

Ageing Potential: 10 Years

Tasting Note:
Deep ruby colour. Complex on the nose, offering minty notes mingling with small red berry aromas. Dense tannins, and a full, rich wine supported by beautiful acidity that gives the wine good potential for laying down. Spicy and toasted notes from maturation in barrels. Fresh and complex, dense and elegant.
