"The Farnese group owns Gran Sasso, Vesevo, Zabù, Vigneti del Salento, Vigneti del Vulture, Cantina di Diomede and Tufarello, among others, but this is their flagship winery. Alberto Antonini oversees production, ensuring that these wines offer great quality, varietal character and value. Their elegant and striking packaging makes them stand out on the shelf or table.
The vineyards are based in the northern part of the Abruzzo, where ripeness and freshness combine in the wines. The forward and accessible Sangiovese 2015 is a case in point. The Fiano shows just how well this variety performs in the Abruzzo, while the Pecorino is stunning. All the wines made from Montepulciano have the hallmark colour and intensity of this variety but with a balance and accessibility that is often lacking in wines from this region. The deeply coloured, intense and powerful 'Edizione Cinque Autoctoni' is, according to owner Valentino Sciotti, ""a true taste of southern Italy"". It is a blend of Montepulciano from the Abruzzo and Primitivo from Puglia. It is full and powerful yet fresh and nicely defined."

Vineyards:
The grapes for this wine come from the small farms controlled by the Farnese group in the areas around Ortona, San Salvo and Pollutri. The vineyards have a south-eastern exposure and the soils are a mixture of clay and limestone.
Vinification:
Once the grapes were received at the winery, they were gently crushed and destemmed. The grapes then underwent maceration and fermentation for 15 days.
Tasting Notes:
Ruby red with garnet highlights. Intense, persistent and fruity aromas with strong notes of wild berries and hints of vanilla. A full bodied, well balanced and slightly tannic wine with a clean aftertaste.
Food Suggestion: Fantastic with salami, rich main courses, meat and cheese.
Closure: Stelvin ABV:13% Acidity [g/l]: 6.19
