"The Costanti family have owned this 10 hectare estate for over 200 years. Andrea Costanti inherited it from his uncle in the mid-1980s, and has worked hard to take it to its current position as one of the very best in Montalcino.
The style is characterised by a striking elegance and intensity, combining the power of Montalcino with the elegance that comes from vineyards situated at a high altitude in the northern part of the zone. The vineyards are planted over 400 metres above sea level, on galestro soil that is typical of the area. This friable rock soil is also found in Chianti Classico, and is particularly suited to the production of good Sangiovese.
The Rosso is elegant yet intense, a wonderful introduction to the Costanti style. The Brunello has wonderful elegance and balance with good concentration and silky tannins."
Winemaker: Andrea Costanti
The vineyards are planted on galestro soil and are situated at a high altitude of over 400 metres above sea level. The Sangiovese vines are between 6 and 25 years old.
Fermentation took place on the skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature using selected yeasts and lasted two weeks. Malolactic fermentation took place in tank. The wine was then aged for 12 months in large French oak barrels of 3.5 hectolitres before being bottled.
Bright ruby red in the glass, showing vibrant primary fresh fruit aromas of raspberries and red cherries. Soft tannins and a lovely fresh acidity on the palate lead to a long finish with a lingering floral note.
Food Suggestion: Enjoy with your favourite pasta dish or a tomato based pizza.
