Description:

Château Talbot is a 4th Cru Classé from 1855, located in the noble wine village of Saint-Julien in the Médoc. It has been in the Cordier family for generations and has produced many outstanding vintages. Jean-Max Drouilhet has been cellar master here since 2007 and has been able to further increase the quality of the Talbot wines. Chateau Talbot is committed to sustainable viticulture practices, employing environmentally friendly methods to preserve the vineyards and minimize the use of chemicals. the winery focuses on maintaining the natural balance of the ecosystem, nurturing healthy
soils, and preserving biodiversity.

With the Connétable, Merlot usually predominates in the final blend, with the two grape varieties being closer together than usual in 2018 with 57% (Merlot) and 43% (Cabernet Sauvignon). About 20% new and 80% used barriques are used for the development of the second wine from Talbot.

TASTING NOTES:
The 2018 Connétable Talbot is medium to full-bodied with an enticing nose of ripe blackcurrants, plums, and red cherries, accented by notes of tobacco leaf, cedar, and a touch of graphite. On the palate, it delivers a rich core of dark fruit, wrapped in velvety tannins and balanced by vibrant acidity. A mineral undertone adds depth, while a long, smoky finish leaves a lasting impression. This vintage offers impressive structure and ageing potential but is equally charming in its early years.
