Producer Description:
The fruit of a historic 15th century estate in the Médoc, in the Margaux appellation, Château Siran is a Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. 25 hectares of vineyards averaging 30 years of age located on a beautiful plateau in the Labarde area whose gravel and pebble soils retain very little rainwater and provide exceptional quality. The grapes are harvested by hand and, once in the cellar, fermentation begins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks of 60 to 180 hectolitres. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

With a unique terroir and the know-how of the team, Edouard Miailhe follows the advice of the illustrious Madame Genlis and shares the excellence so it can be enjoyed as it deserves. Château Siran is a powerful, fine and well-balanced wine for pleasure. One of the rare Grands Crus that has never been classified and whose youth is enchanting. It develops a wonderfully subtle potency with age, a pleasure reminiscent of a glorious past.

"Attractive berry fruit here with spices and orange peel undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, toned and steady with compact tannin structure. Deep. Long finish with stony minerality. Most structured yet fine Siran I have tasted for a long time."

"Great depth, well judged and balanced, plenty of character, crisp mint leaf, cassis, blueberry, cocoa bean, espresso, this is seriously enjoyable, clear tannic frame and great ageing potential, ripe but measured, it's one to look out for and very easy to recommend. A classic 94 point Buy signal. 35% new French oak barrels, great stuff from Edouard Miailhe and winemaker Marjolaine Defrance."

"The 2022 Siran, bottled in May 2024, offers brambly red fruit with touches of sous-bois, pressed flowers and cedar. It opens nicely in the glass with suggestions of dark chocolate in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and accents of black pepper and clove. This wine surprisingly comes across a little Saint-Julien in style, and is somewhat austere for the first ten minutes. Then the fruit returns, as if playing peek-a-boo. Give this two or three years in bottle."

Tasting Notes:
Château Siran 2022 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruits accompanied by licorice and pencil shavings. On the palate, it is fruity, succulent, and elegant. A medium to full-bodied wine with integrated acidity and fine, polished tannins. The finish is long and persistent.
