The Bordeaux/Claret Collection

A coming together of six of our favourite Bordeaux wines. Each and every bottle in this case deserves its place here. It is a great mix of left and Right bank Bordeaux with wines from the following appellations included. 

Fronsac, Haut-Medoc, Lalande Pomerol, Pauillac and Castillion Cotes de Bordeaux.  

Chateau Tour Canon Fronsac

Just west of Pomerol, the scattered vineyards of Fronsac are found on low lying hills overlooking the Dordogne river. This region is sometimes called “Bordeaux’s little Tuscany”. The wines are firm and full bodied while showing an attractive fruitiness.

This minute appellation, Canon-Fronsac, produces wines that can be a trifle stronger than Fronsac. Merlot is the staple grape variety in those two appellations with some added Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (aka Malbec) to spice up the final blend.

Chateau Bellegrave Pauillac

"The Bellegrave has an intriguing, rather saline/brine scented bouquet with expressive Cabernet Franc. It takes a little time to find its delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannins. The Cabernet Franc component forms its conspicuous back bone - a Pomerol that is classic and “cool” in style. Nicely focused and delineated on the finish with well-integrated oak, don’t be surprised to find this blooming in several years." James Suckling

Clos des Galevesses Lalande de Pomerol

Located in the heart of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, the vines of Clos des
Galevesses are set upon a gravelly outcrop watched over by the iconic Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste, founded in the twelfth century by the Knights Hospitaller. The wine they produce is at once fruity and elegant, with a superb tannic structure. The owners' savvy blend of historic traditions and modern techniques make this an estate with a bright future. With vinification in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. After the fermentations, the wine is then racked 15 to 18 months into French oak barrels. A bold, radiant red robe and an intense first nose packed with intense red berry aromas. Swirling in the glass reveals subtle spicy accents. Smooth, suave opening on the palate, with great roundness and balance.

Charles Beylot Pauillac

Charles Beylot, owner of prestigious Chateaux in the Saint-Emilion region during the 19th century, was one of the key players in the development and success of Horeau-Beylot, wine merchant founded in 1740 and whose ninth generation is now leading its destiny. Sorting of the grapes at the mechanical table, traditional vinification in vats. Beautiful deep and brilliant purple colour. On the nose, it's a surprising explosion of fruits such as raspberry and blackcurrant as well.
  
Les Allees de Cantemerle 
Haut-Medoc, France

Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, Les Allées de Cantemerle is renowned for its exceptional red wines, the estate meticulously cultivates grapes on gravel-rich soil, ideal for fostering Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape in this blend. The 2018 Les Allées de Cantemerle continues this legacy, crafted under the watchful eye of winemaker Gregory Thibault.

Hints of cedarwood and a touch of savoury earthiness add complexity, hinting at the wine's potential for development. The palate is met with a burst of concentrated fruit flavours, balanced beautifully by firm yet smooth tannins. This is an approachable flavoursome elegant wine with a long finish. This structure provides a pleasing grip and ensures the wine's Ageability.
