INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTY OF THEIR BIRTHPLACE, THE BEARA PENINSULA IN WEST CORK AND PASSIONATE ABOUT ALL THINGS GIN, SIBLINGS, JOHN AND EILEEN EMBARKED ON A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY TO CREATE THEIR OWN SIGNATURE GIN. OVER 18 MONTHS THEY TRAVELLED ACROSS THE GLOBE MEETING DISTILLERS AND GIN ENTHUSIASTS ALIKE IN ORDER TO LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THIS ENIGMATIC SPIRIT. THEY ENROLLED IN GIN SCHOOL IN ORDER TO LEARN THE CRAFT OF DISTILLING AND BLENDING
THEY WANTED TO CREATE A SPIRIT THAT REFLECTED THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF THEIR HOMEPLACE AND THEIR LOVE OF THE SEA, BEARA OCEAN GIN WAS BORN. A HAND CRAFTED SMALL BATCH GIN INFUSED WITH WILD ATLANTIC SEA WATER AND VENTRY HARBOUR SUGAR KELP. HAND-PICKED FUSCHIA, THE ICONIC FLOWER OF WEST CORK IS COMBINED WITH TRADITIONAL GIN BOTANICALS TO CREATE A WELL-BALANCED EASY-DRINKING GIN.
THE INSTALLATION OF THE MODERN I-STILL AND TRADITONAL MÜLLER STILL WAS A LANDMARK. THE TEAM QUICKLY GOT TO EXPERIMENTING WITH THE NEW STILLS, TESTING RECIPES AND TWEAKING PROCESSES TO CREATE A GIN AS IMPRESSIVE AS THE SURRONDING LANDSCAPES.
A FINAL RECIPE WAS CREATED AND THE TEAM STARTED TO PRODUCE, BOTTLE AND PACKAGE BEARA OCEAN GIN. THE COMPANY JOINED THE SUPERVALU RETAIL ACADEMY AND PROGRESSED THROUGH THE STAGES TO SUPPLY A NUMBER OF STORES IN THE CORK/KERRY REGION. BEARA DISTILLERY PARTNERED WITH A NUMBER OF KEY DISTRIBUTORS TO GROW THEIR REACH AND SUPPLY BARS AND RESTAURANTS. THE DISTILLERY CONTINUES TO GROW AND FULFILL IT’S MISSION TO PROVIDE CUSTOMERS WITH A REFRESHING TASTE OF WEST CORK, WHEREVER THEY MAY BE.
"The cure for everything is sea air and salt water". The Atlantic Ocean Botanicals used in this Gin include Salt water and Sugar Kelp that balance with the freshness of Juniper and Zesty Citrus Aromas. While Cardamom, Angelica and Orris root add complexity.
The result is a unique blend of native sea Flora with traditional botanicals for an altogether enjoyable and easy drinking Gin.

The first distillery in Europe to use salt water as a botanical, alongside sugar kelp taken from the sea.

Distilled on the edge of Ireland, in Castletownbere, at the end of the Beara Peninsula, West Cork. 43.3% ABV

BOTANICALS

Hand Picked Beara Fuschia, Lemon Myrtle, Ventry Harbour Sugar Kelp, Salt Water Cardamom Pods, Coriander Seeds, Peppercorns, Juniper Berries, Ginger, lime and lemon peel.

TASTING NOTES

Juniper and Citrus to the fore, Supported by floral notes and spicy warm cardamom. Abundance of Salty flavours complemented by the gingery spiciness of coriander. In the mouth the juniper develops into a crispiness, nicely balanced by gentle spice

THE PERFECT G&T

 

Add ice to your favourite gin glass. Add 45ml of Beara Ocean Gin, top with 60ml of Fentimans tonic water and garnish with grapefruit. The Salt of the gin and the sweet Citrus of the grapefruit fill your mouth with contrasting bursts of freshness.
