Barolo Serralunga d'alba
Country: Italy Region: Piemonte
Varietal: Nebbiolo
Vintage: 2019 Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Luigi Pira
Description:
This Barolo is made from grapes grown in Piedmont by farmers who traditionally supply their production to Fontana Fredda. 80 % of the wine is aged in barriques (20% of American oak - 80% in French oak (Allier)), in which the malolactic fermentation takes place before the end of the winter. The wine stays in wood for around eight months then bottled in January for further refining in the cellars for approximately three months.
Tasting Note:
Intense ruby-red, with purple highlights; intense nose of ripe fruits - especially plums and cherries - with hints of spices, merging into a fine balance with toasted overtones. Starts out on the palate providing a warm feeling of volume and body, with a good balance between fruit, soft tannins and acidity, with a very long and warm finish.
