Country: Australia Region: Coonawarra
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2017
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Wynns Estate
Description:
First produced in 1954 and widely known as ‘Black Label’, Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has established a reputation for displaying excellent varietal and regional characteristics. The wine is produced from only the top quality 20 to 25 per cent of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit available from Wynns Coonawarra Estate. A wine of style and stature - and a perennial favourite in auction circles - ‘Black Label’ is one of Australia’s most collectable wines and Australia’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon. It consistently delivers potential for medium to long-term cellaring, with the average age of the vineyard for Wynns ‘Black Label’ fruit being over 35 years.
"Coonawarra, with its cool climate and 'Terra Rossa' soils, is one of the great homes of Cabernet Sauvignon in Australia. Immense amounts of blackcurrants and cassis with the classic Coonawarra lead-pencil edge from one of the regions most respected producers" John Wilson Irish Times Nov 2009
Tasting Note:
Blackcurrant pastilles on the most, Ripe concentrated black fruit on the palate with polished tannins. Mellow, slightly oaky finish of black fruit, cedar and liquorice. Delicious wine mature and interesting.
