Christmas Day Chairmans Wine Box | Save €42 on this case | Ships From November 1st 2026
The wines in this box are fit for a Chairman, or indeed a king, this Christmas Day.
The celebrations begin with Jean Pol Hautbois, a grower Champagne. Unlike the big houses, a grower tends the vines, makes the wine and bottles it themselves, giving them complete control over the quality in the glass.
From there, the selection meanders through some of Europe's finest regions, starting with a crisp White Burgundy, elegant and wonderfully versatile at the Christmas table, followed by a fragrant, silky white from Domaine Alary in the Rhône Valley.
For the reds, there's a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from Bordeaux and a Chianti Classico Riserva from Ruffino, one of Tuscany's great producers, both with the character and depth to stand up to Christmas dinner.
And when the plates are cleared and the cheese comes out, a Taylor's Fine Tawny Port finishes the day in style.
Six exceptional bottles, carefully selected to take you from the first toast of Christmas Day to the final glass.
Each of the wines has been hand picked by our team, for yours! We will send a full set of tasting notes for each wine in this case and food matches to be enjoyed with each.
Delivered in a Courier proof brown outer carton or a Wooden Gift Case.
Champagne Jean Pol Hautbois Tradition Brut
Champagne, France
1 x 75cl
The Aperitif
Start the day as you mean to go on. We chose Champagne Jean Pol Hautbois for its really fine mousse, which leads to a lightly toasty nose with great freshness and floral notes. It expresses all that the Côte des Bar terroir has to offer, grown on the southern exposure and ancient soils of the Champagne region. On the palate it is pleasingly crunchy, with an elegant and long-lasting flavour, a wine with real breed and finesse. As a domaine-bottled grower Champagne, the family controls production right to the end, and the quality is excellent.
Genetie Mâcon-Charnay-lès-Mâcon 'Les Piliers'
Burgundy, France
1 x 75cl
The Starter White
For starters you'll want a wine that is full of freshness and minerality. White Burgundy is almost always Chardonnay, and Burgundy is home to the most versatile grape in the world. Charnay-lès-Mâcon is a village near Mâcon, and its soils and terroir give this wine a crisp, mineral freshness with lively acidity and a mouthful of vibrant fruit. It opens with the zesty crunch of greengages before hints of candied peel and lemongrass on the finish, while a little lees ageing adds a subtle richness and just the right amount of polish. Well made and seriously drinkable.
Domaine Alary Côtes du Rhône 'La Gerbaude' Blanc
Rhône Valley, France
1 x 75cl
The Main Course White
From Denis and Jean-Étienne Alary, one of the top family names in the southern Rhône, this is a blend of Clairette, Roussanne, Viognier and Bourboulenc from organically farmed, hand-harvested vines. A delicate pale gold, it shows floral and spicy aromas of acacia, white blossom and a touch of anise, alongside pear, citrus and white peach. The palate is soft and rounded with a silky texture, built around crisp, refreshing acidity, and subtle minerality gives it an elegant, long finish. A beautifully balanced white with the texture to carry the main course.
Château La Fleur Cravignac 2023
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France
1 x 75cl
The First Main Course Red
A family property just one kilometre from the small medieval town of Saint-Émilion, covering just under eight hectares of vines on the clay and limestone soils characteristic of the appellation. The vineyard is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. We import the wine directly from Jean Colbert and his wife Karine at the property. It is quite simply one of the best Saint-Émilion Grand Crus we have come across in our years of tasting there, from a small property where the quality is exceptional. We hope you love this wine as much as we do.
Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Riserva 2022
Tuscany, Italy
1 x 75cl
The Second Main Course Red
A glorious taste of Chianti Classico, a symphony of power and class, fruit and tannin, complexity and approachability. It is complex and structured, with fine, integrated tannins, and the wine is precise and pure. Deep in colour, it shows the trademark white pepper notes of reds from this area and a long finish that leaves a clear impression of Sangiovese. Perfect for a Christmas meal, with robust flavours and a fine, ethereal finish.
Taylor's Fine Tawny Port
Porto, Portugal
1 x 75cl
The Cheeseboard Wine
Taylor's Fine Tawny Port is incredibly versatile. It can be chilled for freshness, making it a lovely aperitif, but it is best known for the smooth and mellow character that comes from the hand-selected wines chosen for the blend. It is a pale brick colour, with aromas of butterscotch, figs and prunes interwoven with attractive nutty and spicy notes. Smooth and round on the palate, full of rich strawberry jam flavours. Enjoy it with the cheeseboard on Christmas Day. It will keep for well over two weeks once opened, so it can be enjoyed throughout the festive season.
