Will's Festive Picks 2025
A case I most enjoy curating each year is the Festive Picks, because I can indulge in the wines that I want to drink while telling you about why I want to drink them!
When choosing my festive picks, Im looking for just two things, quality and value. These are wines that you might be glad to have a case of, wines that would work well for a party, or wines that you would be delighted to open a bottle of just two or three of you. I'm really excited about this case of Festive picks this year, because they are ever so slightly unusual and intriguing, but these are wines that should have really broad appeal as well. I hope you agree! First Up:
Fantini Gran Cuvee Sparkling Rosé
Abruzzo, Italy
75cl Bottle
The aromas of the Gran Cuvée Rosé are reminiscent of cherries, red currants and strawberries. The soft taste of this sparkling wine is absolutely sublime, with soft gentle bubbles. The finish is long and well balanced. In addition to the traditional use of a sparkling wine as an aperitif, the Fantini Gran Cuvee Rosé Spumante will pair with food great as well such as antipasti, fish and dishes with an Asian influence go very well here.
Domaine de Vedilhan Sauvignon Blanc
Narbonne, France
75cl Bottle
Richly flavoured yet very proper sauvignon blanc. A wonderfully sunny style with broad tropical and delicate smokey notes, ripe citrus acidity and a richly-textured finish. It is a subtle wine, with less citrus than you'll find fromNew Zealand and as a result it's easy drinking and great for parties, dinners or get togethers.
Waltraud Torres Riesling
Penedés, Spain
1 x 75cl Bottles
There is so much to this wine, yet it is delicate and ready to take on any food you pair it with. It is intense with fine floral lemon balm and lemon peel nuances and subtle honeyed undertones. Elegant, firm-bodied and silky, with echoes of spice bread on the finish. Delicious wine and one I could keep talking about all day!
Montsable Pinot Noir
Haute Valée de Laude, France
75cl Bottle
The great Master of Wine Bob Campbell said of this wine: ‘Supple, elegant wine with good varietal definition. Appealing purity with cherry, strawberry and fresh herb flavours enhanced with a subtle seasoning of spicy oak. Light, fresh and deliciously drinkable.’ It sums this wine up as it is to me, precisely how pinot Noir should taste!

Vineyards located in Pesquera del Duero, right in the center of the D.O. Ribera del Duero’s Golden Triangle, meticulously tended and planted with vines of the best Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) of over 30 years of age, guarantee the winery is making the best quality wines possible from a limited production of grapes, strictly controlled and rigorously sorted.
