Description:

With traditional grape varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot - this precise and complex Bordeaux-style blend gives a round, fruit-filled wine that reflects the boldness and elegance of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the Chilean terroir.
Escudo Rojo, a literal Spanish translation of the Rothschild name, has its origins from the Maipo Valley, the historic birthplace of fine Chilean wines. Escudo Rojo gets its refinement from French grape varieties and its power from the magnificent terroir. In a constant quest for perfection, our winegrowers select the best vines there to make and blend this exceptional wine.

Tasting Note:
Escudo Gran Reserva initially boasts a beautifully complex and rich nose with juicy black fruit. After a few minutes in the glass, the Carmenere comes through with a hint of smoke and black pepper. The perfectly balanced oak provides a toasty note of vanilla and coffee bean which wraps around a core of cassis and black cherry. The palate has great concentration and balance whilst delivering enough power to deem this wine full bodied, without being clumsy. After an hour in the decanter this wine is really impressive! Its quality will ensure it develops beautifully in the cellar for a decade to come
