Valentino Sciotti (of Vesevo, Gran Sasso and other Farnese estates) took over this small co-operative in Basilicata in Acerenza in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture zone in 2008. Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini works with Manuel Barbone, and together they manage to capture the character of the grapes and the zone superbly in the bottle.
he Basilicata brand of Farnese , produces under the name Pipoli also a modern fresh white wine from the grape varieties Greco and Fiano. This is a beautiful wine for all occasions with an outstanding price-quality ratio. It gets its freshness from the unusually high vineyard position, the grapevines grow in about 800m high altitude, which balances the hot climate of southern Italy.
TASTING NOTES: A lush white with striking tropical notes that would be great with a peach and burrata salad, though it has the freshness to make a fine aperitif too
