This wine of ruby red color of medium-high, balanced, complex layer, fits very well the memory of the aromas of the varieties used for its elaboration, ripe red fruit, licorice and those contributed by the oak wood , balsamic, cinnamon, pepper.

Decanter released the top 50 wines from this year’s awards, which represented less than a Third of a percent of the wines that were tasted. Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva Rioja 2012 was named as a Best in Show wine after it received a near perfect score of 97 points standing out among the top wines in the world, and the only Rioja wine to win the award. What is superb, was that there were 8 wines from Spain amongst the top 50 wines, showcasing the overall quality of Spanish wine. But there was only one wine from Rioja, and while it is not cheap at €30 per bottle, there were many wines over twice its price from Rioja among the 16,500 wines entered.
Lopez de Haro Gran Reserva Rioja

Hacienda López de Haro Gran Reserva is a red wine produced by Bodega Classica in D.O. La Rioja. The idea of Bodega Classica is to produce "contemporary classic wines" with a traditional production but a modern twist at the same time. Elegant and round, it is well balanced with a velvety attack followed by a pleasant acidity and a silky and full-bodied aftertaste resulting from its noble and ripe tannin. Its long aftertaste has spicy and balsamic hints, resulting from its long and peaceful ageing, as well as confit fruit nuances that uncover its personality.
La Rioja Alta Viña Arana Gran Reserva Rioja

Followers of this much admired estate will know that there is no Gran Reserva 904 until 2023, at which point we will see the 2015 vintage hit the market. Until then, fruit that would ordinarily go in to the 904 has been put in to the Vina Arana, the first tier of their three Gran Reserva bottlings. In the case of 2014, there is no 890 either, thus the Vina Arana includes all the best quality fruit from that year, producing a Gran Reserva of exceptional quality at an affordable price. It is produced from 94% Tempranillo and 6% Graciano, aged for three years in used American oak with traditional racking every six months.
Bodegas Lan Rioja Gran Reserva

Crafted from vines of more than 40 years of age, LAN Gran Reserva spent 28 months in hybrid American and French oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 36 months of rounding in the bottle in cellar. Intense deep red-garnet with a ruby trim. In the nose is intense with black ripe fruit, fig and a touch of raisins all mixed with intense spicy and smoky notes. In the palate is harmonious, balanced with gentle tannins that allowed for a long aftertaste that strengthens the ripe fruit and spices aromas.
