Description:
One of La Rioja's modern classics, Vivanco Crianza is an excellently priced Spanish red wine made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana Tinta, a recovered indigenous variety. Harvested by hand in early October, the grapes were first cold-macerated. After a light pressing, the wine must was put into little French oak vats, where it was fermented and macerated at a controlled temperature with periodic pump-overs.
The malolactic fermentation of this Crianza red wine from La Rioja was also carried out in those little vats, after which Vivanco Crianza 2019 was aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels, with several rack-and-returns. Finally, the wine also known as Vivanco Crianza Selección de Familia was aged for a further 6 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.
Interestingly, the label of this wine from the Vivanco winery reproduces "Le Troubadour", a painting of the great Catalan artist Joan Miró.
Pleasant and gentle, this blend smells of of strawberries and raspberries, nuanced by hints of toast and vanilla, some floral remembrances, a touch of balsam and a dash of liquorice. Well-balanced and tasty on the palate, this Crianza red wine conveys typical notes of red berries, blueberries, spices and balsam. This wine from bodega Vivanco has a good acidity, ripe tannins and a medium, fruity finish.
