For Finca Montepedroso, this award is particularly significant because it highlights the ageing potential and premium quality of Verdejo, a grape often associated with fresh, early-drinking wines. The Enoteca bottling is a more complex, cellar-worthy expression that demonstrates the variety's ability to produce world-class white wines.

The Platinum medal was awarded only after multiple rounds of blind tasting and re-tasting by Decanter's senior judging panels, including Masters of Wine and regional experts, recognising the wine as one of the finest examples entered from around the world. 

Finca Montepedroso Verdejo sobre lías (DO Rueda) is a clean and aromatic white wine from Rueda, of high quality obtained through aging on its lees. Velvety and silky, yet with good structure, it is a great example of fruity wines made with the Verdejo grape.

In short, this is a very good wine with a long and elegant finish, featuring distinct notes of fennel and anise. A modern classic among Rueda wines, it pairs perfectly with white meats, fish, seafood, and sushi.
