Description:

From the very first sip, Beychevelle 2025 seduces with its radiant purity and spring-like energy, revealing fruit of great freshness. This early vintage shapes a palate with a remarkable silky texture, where juicy black cherry is surrounded by delicate notes of sweet pepper. A Saint-Julien full of tension and elegance, whose vibrant finish promises a superb evolution.

The 2025 Beychevelle is a very sexy wine. Plush and exuberant, the 2025 is seriously impressive right out of the gate. Blackberry, lavender, mocha, crème de cassis and a kick of French oak are all beautifully amplified in the glass. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, with the plush richness of the Merlot very much in evidence. There's a lot of wine here. The 2025 spent three weeks on the skins, more or less the norm here, but it also includes 13% press wine, a bit higher than most years. More than anything else, the 2025 is a wine of extreme pleasure. It is an exceptional Beychevelle, one of the finest in recent memory.

It may appear churlish to describe this as a “blockbuster,” but there is something inordinately generous and satisfying about a Beychevelle with its sails tacked to the wind. Damson, Morello cherry, and vanillin to betray the new oak. 13% of press wine has been added. Philippe Blanc assures us that the maceration has been shorter than usual and the extraction more measured, but we remain on the verge of being unconvinced, such is the sensuous approachability on display here! A high-toned, hedonistic delight. | 95–96
