Producer Description:
Chateau Angelus is an emblematic wine, taking its name from the winegrowers who heard the bells of three churches in the heart of the famous medieval town of Saint-Émilion ringing simultaneously. This legendary property of the appellation was founded in 1782 and, for 8 generations, the de Boüard de Laforest family has overseen this exceptional heritage.
Le Carillon d'Angélus is a second wine that, like the rest of the Château Angélus wines, represents values of tradition, modernity and exigency at the service of the property's reputation. Sourced from 18 hectares of merlot and cabernet franc vineyards planted on clay, sand and silt soils, this is a Grand Cru in Saint-Emilion that, with careful work on the vegetation, produces a magnificent vintage. In the cellar, vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and post-fermentation maceration lasts 1 to 3 weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
Behind a logo that is the true symbol of the House, Le Carillon d'Angélus is a wine with its own identity. Complex, elegant and with great aging potential, it is a true reflection of a unique terroir that, like its bell, calls for excellence.

"The 2022 Château Angelus Carillon brings another level of class and purity, with beautiful cassis, spicy wood, spring flowers, and smoky, tobacco nuances. It's beautifully textured, has medium to full-bodied richness, and pure, polished tannins. It's a brilliant second wine from this team that has the class of a Grand Vin."

"Based on Merlot from the cool, clay-limestone terroirs of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, the 2022 Le Carillon d'Angélus offers up aromas of sweet berries, plums, orange zest, cigar wrapper and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's deep and dense, with lively acids, sweet tannins and a gently lactic finish."
Tasting Notes:
