Meet the Winemaker | Wildeberg | Friday 25th September 2026
We're delighted to welcome Wildeberg back to Dublin for the sixth dinner in our 2026 Winemaker Dinner series, and the second time we've poured this exceptional Franschhoek estate for our customers.
This time, the wines are in the hands of Abigail Buckenham, who joined the Wildeberg team in 2023 and has quickly become one of the most exciting voices in South African wine. She champions a low-intervention, Rhône-inspired approach, working across six distinct soil types on the estate to let the character of each site come through, and she's a passionate advocate for biodiversity and sustainable farming in the vineyard. Rather than chase big, ripe, fruit-driven flavour, Abigail's wines lean savoury and restrained, letting the land do the talking.
The results speak for themselves. Wildeberg has been named overall Winery of the Year in South Africa two years running, up against over 550 other entrants, and the accolades keep coming. Abigail's Coterie Semillon Sauvignon Bordeaux Blend was named Best Overall White Wine in South Africa, and the rest of the Coterie range scored above 94 points across the board, making this one of the most decorated cellars working in the Cape right now.
Much has changed at Wildeberg since we last poured these wines in Dublin, and the range has only gotten better. This September, Abigail will present seven of her wines over a three-course dinner at One Ballsbridge, walking guests through the soil, the philosophy, and the story behind each glass.
Founded in 2017, Wildeberg has been part of a real shift in how South African wine is seen in Ireland, and Abigail represents the newer generation carrying that momentum forward, with old-vine projects, low-intervention cellar work, and a genuine sense of place in every bottle.
On the night, you'll taste wines from the 'Terroirs' range, single-varietal expressions of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside the celebrated 'Coterie' range, refined, French-style blends where Abigail brings complementary grape varieties together with real precision.
