Description:

The small organic Vignoble Dauny is located in Champtin, Sancerre. The Dauny family has been making wine in Champtin since 1683, so it is no less than the 12th and 13th generation that is running the family business today. Since 1999 and 2007, the brothers Benoît and Thibaut have been at the helm of the almost 17 hectares of vineyards, together with their parents Nicole and Christian. Apart from the family, there are only two additional people employed to take care of the maintenance and then a handful of seasonal workers who are involved in the harvest. In 1964, Lucien Dauny, Christian's father, decided to convert the vineyard to organic, in order to improve the soil and stop unnecessary pollution of the precious soil that has supplied the family for hundreds of years.

The grapes come from vineyards where the soil is characterized by clay and lime, also called 'Terres Blanches', with vines are on average 28 years old. It is a dry and crisp white wine, with floral aromas, which best demonstrate why Sancerre is so sought after for its white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.

Tasting Note: White flowers, passion fruit – Refreshing minerality, with fruity fullness, like ripe pears and pineapple. Very fine and crisp aftertaste, with a liberating acidity. The wine stays fresh for 5 to 8 years after harvest.

Food Matches: Fish, shellfish, white meat and cheese, (especially goat cheese).
