The Zenato winery possesses a strong link to the richness of its local history and culture, and continues to develop this connection today. Cherishing a ‘frank and simple’ approach to life, Zenato is committed to producing affordable wine of exceptional quality. With a passion for the land and a dedication to vigorous research, innovation and quality improvement, Sergio Zenato strived to eclipse past results. He crafted wines that are known for their quality and consistency.
Zenato is quite simply the best producer in the Veneto, from his whites through to the Amarones. Ripassa wines are produced by re-fermenting Valpolicella on the lees and grape skins from Amarone. As the best example of Valpolicella Ripassa going here can be found sweet cherries, plums, and fresh tangerines. With a fuller body than expected, layers of complex flavours and a smooth finish, this is a real find – simply sumptuous.
93 Pts James Suckling
"A lovely mix of red berries, bright orange peel and spicy cedar on the nose, following through to a full, round and silky palate with very fine tannins that are well integrated into the texture. Lots of flavor and good length. Hard not to settle down to a glass or two of this."
Tasting Notes:
This red from the Valpolicella appellation is deep ruby-red in colour which shows intense aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants underscored by aromas of spice pepper, and a hint of leather. On the palate, it is smooth and viscous with well-balanced acidity and alcohol.
Food Pairing: Excellent companion to game dishes, grilled meat and roasts, salami and aged cheeses.
