Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage: 2016 Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Catena
Description:
The Catena wine range (Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Chardonnay) consists of high altitude wines, made using grapes sourced from different vineyards owned by the Catena family and cultivated at altitudes ranging from 1,000 to almost 1,500 metres above sea level. Each batch is harvested and vinified separately so as to offer an expressive ensemble of great balance.
The Catena Cabernet Sauvignon is a red with plenty of fruit and evidence of oak which will delight lovers of modern-style wines, yet will also captivate with its sweetness, fruitiness and roundedness those who usually shun the powerful and concentrated type of wine; it is extremely well-made and exudes high quality.
Tasting Note:
A dark and intense Picota cherry colour, this is a lively and energetic wine that shows its varietal character with that first impact on the nose: lots of ripe fruit (blackcurrants and red fruit), fresh and mineral (eucalyptus, pencil lead) notes, smoky and woody (cedar) hints, and a very attractive creamy sweetness; this is an open, elegant wine that pleases right from the start.
