The Teycheney family has been cultivating vineyards since 1837, when the first generation settled in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, on the family's historic estate.
They are perhaps most widely known for Cheteau Fleur de La Lisse from Saint Emilion. This wine is also made at the same estate by the same winemaking team. The pedigree of excellence here is second to none. The team assembled here are world class and the terroir some of the best at the base of the terraces of Saint Emilion
Since 2015, the 6th generation, Caroline Teycheney, has been in charge of the vineyards, which now cover 62 hectares in Entre-Deux-Mers and 32 hectares in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
During A visit to WineOnline.ie HQ in November 2024, Winemaker at Chateau Pichon Baron in Pauillac, Nicholas Chiramboul told us that the 2022 vintage is the greatest vintage he has ever seen in Bordeaux and he declared that it was ' The new 1982'. It was a hot but perfect vintage as the plants responded to the warm weather and produced ripe, vibrant and perfectly balanced grapes.
The vineyard from which the Maison 1982 Réserve is produced is located on the edge of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, at the foot of the clay and limestone hill. It has been cultivated with passion using organic and biodynamic methods since 2016, with the utmost respect for man and nature. The best Merlot plots are meticulously worked and blended to produce the estate’s finest cuvées.
The family is surrounded by an exceptional technical team and the best consultants in Bordeaux. An ambitious project led to the construction of a modern and functional winery, inaugurated in 2015, to guarantee the quality of production. The wines are matured partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in selected oak barrels.
The Saint Émilion Grand Cru Maison 1982 has an intense and fruity bouquet, with notes of cherry and strawberry. On the palate, the wine expresses great delicacy. The tannins are silky and very elegant. The aromatic finish is long.
