It was in the early 1990s that brother and sister, Stefano and Marina Girelli, wine entrepreneurs from Trentino, discovered the wonderful vineyards of Sicily. In 2001, Santa Tresa was acquired by Stefano and Marina, who immediately started the project to overhaul the entire estate completely – an enormous task which was spurred on by Sicily’s warm and welcoming character. In a kind of “reverse migration” of coming from the North to the South, rather than the opposite way round, Stefano and Marina have fallen in love with Sicily.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the wine which made us fall in love with this land.
Genuinely a special wine, and Sicily’s only DOCG, Cerasuolo di Vittoria has been a shining light at Santa Tresa since 1950.

Tasting Note:
Deliciously spicy on the nose and palate, packed with ginger, nutmeg, black pepper and bay leaf. And it's a riot of fruit on the palate: dried cherries, balsamic-drenched blueberries, wild strawberries. Rose petals layer over kalamata olive notes, black pepper over red-bush tea and thyme. The tannins are subtle, like a velvet sash. Scrumptiously fresh, and yet with incredible complexity
