Finca Villacreces, `Pruno` Ribera del Duero Single Bottle
Country: Spain Region: Ribera del Duero
Varietal: Tempranillo and blends Category: Red Wine Colour: Red
Producer: Finca Villacreces
An exceptional red wine that beautifully showcases the elegance of its terroir. A blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine captivates with its vibrant aromas of dark fruit, complemented by subtle earthy undertones and hints of spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and well-rounded, thanks to 12 months of ageing in neutral French oak, which allows the wine's natural character to shine through. The palate reveals a refreshing style that balances rich fruit flavours with a bright acidity, leading to a long, satisfying finish that reflects its sandy gravel and clay over sand terroir.
Born from the Anton family’s dedicated work at Finca Villacreces, this wine is a testament to their commitment to organic farming and sustainable practices. Since acquiring the estate in 2004, they have revitalised their vineyards and carefully selected fruit from plots that thrive in the unique sandy soils near the Duero River, creating a wine that stands apart from the denser styles typical of Ribera del Duero. Pruno represents remarkable value, crafted entirely from estate vineyards situated beside the renowned Vega Sicilia and the prestigious Pingus, surrounded by ancient groves of pines. This delightful wine is not only a testament to the region’s potential but also a perfect companion for hearty dishes, making it an excellent choice for any occasion.
Tasting Note : Intense cherry red colour with a purplish rim. Intense aroma with complex and concentrated notes, reminiscent of reasted cocoa and coffee caramel. Balsamic notes against a background of red fruit (cherries and blueberries) with an elegant mineral reminisecence. In the mouth it is fleshhy, with excellent structure. A full-bodied wine with good volume on the palate, with perfectly integrated ripe tannings and a great amount of fruit and maturity. Excellent and complex persistence on the finish, marked by notes of dark choolate and balsamic hints of black liquorice.
