Description:
This Pauillac is produced by the team who make Lafite, and it has been on top form in recent vintages, receiving impressive scores from the critics. The vineyard is 76 hectares in size and planted with 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot.
The 2022 grand vin is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot. By contrast the 2nd wine - Moulin de Duhart - is 87% Merlot.
The 2022 Duhart-Milon is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with aromas of mulberries, blackcurrants, pencil shavings and rose petal. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, it's sweet and layered, with a gourmand core of fruit underpinned by powdery tannins and lively acids. A decade ago, Duhart could be a somewhat austere wine, but today it's much more integrated and harmonious. The 2022 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot. 2027 - 2050
The 2022 Duhart-Milon has a really wonderful bouquet driven by the higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (78%), with pencil shaving aromas infusing the black fruit. This is quintessential Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied, crisp and vibrant, with fine-boned tannins and an almost crunchy texture toward the saline finish. Beautifully balanced and poised, this sophisticated Duhart-Milon will age effortlessly over two or three decades. 2030 - 2060
Bright puple in colour with a deeply Cabernet nose of blackcurrant and cedar, the focus on this wine is black fruit and sweet spice. Fleshy and full for a wine from the Rothschilds, this is a succulent, even opulent Duhart. It is very well made, with gentle tannins propping up the fruit without infringing on the purity in the glass. Slightly warming on the finish, this hedonistic and forward.
The tension here comes from chalky tannins and lovely tobacco, herbs, cedar and cigar-box character. Currants and blue fruits. It's medium-bodied with lovely fruit and light-citrus bitterness. Firm and intense with an excellent finish. One of the best Duharts I have tasted. Try after 2028.
Made from 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, the 2022 Duhart-Milon is deep garnet-purple in color. It rocks up with ready-to-impress notes of warm cassis, blackberry preserves, and menthol, followed by hints of cinnamon stick, rose oil, and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate is chock full of lively black berry and minty flavors, framed by grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and lifted.
Dark rich ruby colour, elegant and slow moving, will take its time to reach peak drinking, and lots to love. Silky, rich, a vintage that brings out a rakish side of Duhart, unusually ripe that touches exuberance without ever giving up its Pauillac character. Lots of replanting here, so lots of young vines that go into Moulin de Duhart. 50% new oak for ageing, 3.82 ph.
78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot. Cask sample.
Marked Cabernet nose – blackcurrant with a touch of mint. Big tannic base but with an opulence to the tannins. Long and persistent. Plenty of Pauillac power. (JL) 13.7%
