Description:
Grapes have been grown at Chateau Lagrange, St.-Julien, for over 600 years. A Third Growth in the Classification of 1855, it is the largest classified growth in the Medoc with 113 hectares under vine.
The blend of the 2016 Les fiefs Lagrange consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.
This structured but also luscious wine is rich in fruit and tannins. A dense texture gives concentration, boosted by ripe blackberry fruits. The wine is still young and exuberantly full bodied, so wait to drink this second wine of Château Lagrange from 2020.
Tasting Note:
The 2016 Les Fiefs de Lagrange offers an attractive bouquet with blackberry, wild strawberry and light orange blossom scents, a pretty set of aromas, nicely defined if not as intense as the grand vin. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, crisp and fresh with a pleasing light graphite seam toward the finish. Enjoy this well-crafted second wine over the next 5-7 years.
