Piedra Negra Gran Malbec
Country: Argentina Region: Mendoza
Varietal: Malbec Vintage: 2021
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Francois Lurton
Description:
Most of the Argentinian Malbec comes from Agrelo in the north of Mendoza and from La Consulta that is situated in the South of the Uco Valley. The French Malbec, 'Cot', comes from our vineyard Chacayes. Argentina's most emblematic red grape variety. Originally from Southwest France, it has found the perfect home in Argentina, where the soil and climate are ideally suited to this variety. It produces very powerful wines with lots of colour.
"This wine owes its name to black soil at the foot of the Andean mountains, in contrast to the white snow on their peaks. As our vineyards are at the foot of the Andes, we are in ‘Piedra negra’."
Tasting Note:
Deep, intense ruby colour. Balsamic and floral notes. The plum aromas characteristic of ripe Malbec shine through. Powerful in the attack. The oaky notes mingle with black fruit to add huge complexity to the blend. Beautiful acidity supports the wine on the palate right through to the lingering balsamic finish.
Food Matches: Turkey / Venison / Pasta / Blue Cheese
