Torre Solar takes its name from the prototype solar tower built on the outskirts of the winemaking town of Manzanares, providing sustainable energy to the area. At the cutting edge of experimentation in alternative energies the contrast between the new solar tower and the traditional old windmills is striking. Torre Solar wines contrast the old and the new, selecting from long standing individual vineyard sites, vinifying them in a modern way to retain freshness and fruit and providing a beacon of quality for the region.
Only selected, low yielding, un-irrigated vineyards are used for the Torre Solar wines. Green Harvest is vital in order to get the fruit concentration that sets the wines apart as is harvesting by hand at optimal ripeness.
Kiwi know how makes it to La Mancha. Carefully harvested and cold soaked with small amount of skin contact with only free run juice and no pressings used. Inert gas treatment and cool fermentations using a varitey of selected yeasts to gain texture mouthfeel and structure. Partialoak fermentation and extended lees contact to give weight texture and savoury notes while blending in the fruit driven components to give a diverse old world wine with a new world twist.
The suggestion of ripe pineapple, lemon and lime on the nose explode on the palate combined with crisp, refreshing acidity and a long mineral finish.
