Australia's iconic flagship wine as listed by John Wilson November 2009 . "A wine of controlled power & depth, filled with plums, dark fruits & spicy new oak. There is huge concentration and amazing length. The Latour of Australia"
Penfolds Grange was first made in 1951 by Max Schubert as an experiment using techniques he learned in Bordeaux It is made predominantly from the Shiraz grape and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is widely considered Australia's "first growth" and its most collectable wine. A whole cornucopia of blackberries, damsons, plums , coffee & pepper on the palate. Intense, complex wine with a firm structure and plenty of oomph.
