Martinborough is A unique place, and it produces wines of real elegance. Wineries like Craggy Range, Ata Rangi and Palliser are all based there. The area is protected on the east coast of new Zealand by mountain ranges and coastal currents, so much so that their growing season is 2 - 3 weeks longer than further South in Marlborough. You can taste the elegance in the wines, there is more complexity, more flavour and Palliser let the vineyards make the wines, not the winemaker. Very little is done in the winery.
