It's a longtime since three showstopping wines, each a White, Red and a Rosé featured together. Firstly the white wine -
4 x Chateau de Mercues Chenin Blanc, featured on Aer Lingus Business Class for the past three months. We soaked up the stock when their lists changed and it is available on promotion while stocks last. Say no More. It is sensational, a wine I would stick my neck out to say to you that You Will Love It!
4 x Poggio Al Tesoro 'Il Seggio', a Super Tuscan (The name for wines from Tuscany that don't necessarily follow the rules) wine blend of 4 grapes. It just received a best in show medal at the 2018 World Wine Awards for scoring most consistently at the show, out of almost 17,000 wines. The vintage is 2014, the grapes come from the vineyard of their flagship wine, Sondraia which sells for €70 per bottle. The vintage was not deemed exceptional, so they bottled it under a new label 'Il Seggio', and the price is half that of Sondraia at €35 per bottle. Stocks are very limited. It is worth noting that the vineyard for these grapes borders that of Ornellaia, perhaps Italy's most famous wine, which sells for over €100 per bottle.
4 x Whispering Angel Provence Rose. Rosé has undoubtedly become the de rigeur drink of the summer and Ireland's perennial favourite Whispering Angel has, over the last 5 years, become one of the most in-demand wines in the world. Indeed, the estate sells out globally every year, well in advance of the season it was created for...!
