Laphroaig are known for their medicinal malts, and the classic 10 year old is no exception. One of the smokiest standard expression Islay single malts. What makes this stand out above its rivals is the richness, complexity and body which are all here in bigger amounts than normally expected/ This has some wonderful flavours, really smoky and iodine rich with seaweed, plus some surprising sweetness, spiciness and fruitiness. This has to be one of Scotland's most characterful drams.
Nose Exhibits huge peat smoke notes, there is a certain briny quality evident, as well as a slight hint of wet seaweed and perhaps just a touch of vanilla.
Palate A big, full-bodied, and mouth coating single malt whisky with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Lingering hints of salt air emerges
Finish A slight vanilla caramel note becomes apparent underneath all of the smoke and salt to balance out these huge flavors.
