Description:
Eileen Hardy OBE, was, for many years, the family 'matriarch' and is still held in fond memory by all who knew her. This exceptional wine, named in her honour, is made only from grapes produced by the 70 year old, gnarled Shiraz vines found on the Hardys vineyards in McClaren Vale, Padthaway, Clare valley and Frankland River. Six bottle selection subject to availability.
Ageing Potential: 20 Years
Tasting Note:
Fermented in classic 'open top' fermenters and then matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, half of them new. A very full bodied wine with rich juicy-fruit characters and great depth, as well as structure. "One of the most elegant to date under this label; medium bodied, silky texture and very long in the mouth; perfect aftertaste. 96/100". James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2006.
