They are family owned and one of the oldest privately established vineyards, located on the hill slopes of the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand. They produce four wines including a Sauvignon Blanc, and three barrel fermented wines using natural (wild) yeasts including a Sauvignon Blanc fermented in older French oak barrels (Section 94), a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir. All wines are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free reflecting the family's low interventionist ethos. Their primary focus is producing wines of uncompromising quality that will cellar well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn average their Sauvignon Blanc vines are 25 years old, however the oldest are well over 30 years of age. Section 94, the single vineyard, barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc vines are 30 years old.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSection 94 is a complex alternative full bodied style of Sauvignon Blanc with a chalky minerality and fresh herbal influence, complimented by a vibrant acidity which gives the wine focus. This single vineyard parcel is situated within the Dog Point Vineyard, using the same low cropping level from vines planted in 1992. Fruit is hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented and aged in older French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled without fining.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTasting Notes:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/b\u003ePale straw in colour. Gravels, smoke and flint wash over a ripe grapefruit and citrus spectrum of fruit characters. Orange blossom and daphne also complement the citrus core, along with toast and oatmeal characters from the long elevage in barrel. Powerful and intensely flavoured, bursting with fresh grapefruit. A breadth of textures build on the midpalate, with grapefruit pith and a rich creaminess from lees aging. The wines taught structure cleanses the palate and carries flavours to the long finish.
