They are family owned and one of the oldest privately established vineyards, located on the hill slopes of the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand. They produce four wines including a Sauvignon Blanc, and three barrel fermented wines using natural (wild) yeasts including a Sauvignon Blanc fermented in older French oak barrels (Section 94), a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir. All wines are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free reflecting the family's low interventionist ethos. Their primary focus is producing wines of uncompromising quality that will cellar well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGrapes for the Sauvignon are picked from eight of their vineyards within the Wairau Valley. Cropped at an average of 10 tonnes\/hectare. The fruit is whole bunch pressed, cold settled before fermentation and 5 months aging in stainless steel tanks. A portion of this wine is fermented using indigenous yeast. Bottled without fining. A classic dry aromatic style of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Restrained elderflower florals with grapefruit, white peach and pears, followed by underlying complex smoky-flint notes. Fruit sweetness compliments and balances the acid backbone, finishing dry with fine phenolics intertwined with the acidity.
