Description:
Manzanos wine is a family business devoted to viticulture and wine-making in several Appellations since 1890. Manzanos Wine belongs to the group of companies united under the company name Manzanos Enterprises, which is currently run by the sixth generation of Fernandez de Manzanos family.
Bodegas Manzanos is the main Winery of Manzanos Wines, it is the flagship of the company where most of our appellation Rioja great wines are made. It is based in what is called “Rioja del Reyno”, in Azagra (Navarra), and is surrounded by a sea of vineyards owned by the family Fernández de Manzanos. The châteu-style winery was built from 2002 to 2006 and it was designed by Víctor Fernández de Manzanos Pastor, the father of the current CEO who created the perfect winery to guarantee the utmost quality of the wine through the use of architecture.
He was very open-minded about showing the visitors his winery, which he considers home. He used one of these that his family owned in the surroundings of their home town in a hill that he used to his advantage and build the four floors underground to accommodate concrete deposits so that every floor could be used for a different wine-making process. He used gravity to avoid pumping.
Ageing Potential: 3-5 Years
Tasting Note:
Tempranillo in its true Spanish form, on song and undisguised by too much oak or alcohol, is a rare find. This one smashes the ball out of the park.
This versatile wine will go with anything you can throw at it, including (but not limited to) angulas and criadillas.
Tempranillo and Grenache (or Garnacha, in Spain) are made for each other, adding layers and complimenting each other beautifully. Fruitcake, cherry, strawberry and stewed plum are topped of with liquorice spice and tobacco leaf. The palate has good dense dark fruit. Nice, easygoing lunch time wine with the mouth-watering, grainy tannin typical of Tempranillo.
*Tempranillo says 'ooh, Grenache you have a such spicy, juicy fruit!' and Grenache says 'oh, Tempranillo, you complete me'.
Welcome to the vinous heartland of Spain. It smells and tastes amazing
