This 22-year-old has been drawn from some of the earliest barrels filled at the Cooley Distillery and has been matured exclusively in first fill bourbon barrels. It is the oldest whiskey in the core Connemara range, famous for its peaty signature, which has somewhat softened in the barrel over the years to produce a beautifully balanced malt.
Inspired by Ireland’s ancient distilling traditions, Connemara’s smooth sweet malt taste and complex peat flavours makes it a truly unique Irish whiskey. Connemara is the most decorated Irish whiskey with a huge collection of Gold Medals and has been honoured as the “Worlds Best Irish Single Malt”. Connemara allows you to unearth the Peated Pleasures of Ireland.
Nose: Vibrant fruit characters, Apples, orange peel and pineapple, vanilla and chopped herbs. Then comes the light, elegant but up-front smoke.
Palate: Wood smoke is more prominent on the palate, followed by notes of grilled fruit and fresh lemon peel. Full bodied and smooth, then more spicy elements, smoke, leather, charred oak and ginger.
Finish: Remarkable freshness for a 22 year old whiskey. Oak spice grows and grows on the finish, until a crescendo of peat smoke and herbs.
