La Fiole Chateauneuf du Pape, 2016
Rhone Valley, France
2 x 75cl
Created in 1952 by Charles Brotte with the co-operation of local provençale glass and ceramic craftsmen. The unique bottle shape represents the gnarled and twisted vines typical of the region due to their struggle of growing against the Mistral wind. The bottle is exclusive as we are the only winery permitted to use this shape. It is a masterful blend of multiple vintages of the best cuvées, aged according to the traditions and know-how of our esteemed Maison. The Fiole du Pape is the best selling Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the world.
La Reserve de Leoville Barton, 2014
St Julien, Bordeaux
2 x 75cl
“Produced from 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2010 Léoville Barton possesses considerably more density and intensity (than Langoa). This is a spectacular effort; massively concentrated with huge extract and tannins, yet there is exquisite balance here. Everything is in perfect harmony – initially quite reserved and tight knit with hints of cut flowers and a melting pot of dark berries and minerals. This is very muscular and correct with wave after wave of cassis and cherry stone fruit; a composed and very classy, large-scaled Léoville Barton with inspiring tannins and lots of backbone.”
Andrea Bocelli ‘Tenor Red’
2 x 75cl
In 2006 Andrea Bocelli build an Amphitheatre amongst the vines of his family’s estate and called it the ‘Teatro del Silenzio’ Theatre of Silence. He so named it because the area is silent for 364 days of the year. On one evening each summer, Andrea performs for fans around the world and this wine was named after the theatre and created for the first occasion of it’s opening. Since then, ‘Tenor Red’ has been one of Andrea’s flagship wines. It is aged for 10 months in French oak. It is a blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Sangiovese and 33% Merlot. Bordeaux fans are sure to love this wine as it is arguably the perfect Italian Bordeaux Blend, with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, with Sangiovese sharing 33% of the blend. We tried this wine at WineONline.ie HQ two weeks agoi and can tell you it is superb value for money, with delicious texture and richness. It won a Siler Medal at the Texas Wine awards and the 2015 vintage was given 90 points at the world wine championships.
Chateau Baron de Boutisse
Saint Emilion Grand Cru, France
2 x 75cl
The cabernet grape provides great structure and framework for the wine allowing it to be laid down for a period of time while maintaining its complexity during the ageing process. Merlot gives wonderful roundness and charm, and the Cabernet Franc, which comes from the estate‰۪s oldest parcel of vines, adds complexity, finesse and character. These three grape varieties are the distinctive signs of this delicious wine.
Joseph Drouhin Morgon
2 x 75cl
Dried strawberry, bing cherry, and raspberry zest. A lovely earthy note of decomposing granite and schist. Silky tannin and a long, clean finish. Is this Pinot? No, its something else. It's Morgon and it's delicious. We're digging this 2015 Hospice De Belleville Morgon by Joseph Drouhin.
Harvested from the 12 acre Chateau Gaillard plot in Morgon and made from 100% gamay. A portion of the harvest was de-stemmed for a ‘Burgundy style’ vinification with punch downs and pump overs, while the remainder was vinified as whole cluster with carbonic maceration in typical Beaujolais style. The resulting wine, produced by the large and well known Joseph Drouhin from Burgundy, is something truly special.
Riecine Chianti Classico
2 x 75cl
Everyone should experience the joy of a fine Sangiovese wine at least once and this is a perfect example of a great Chianti Classico. Wine is best enjoyed when sharing it… however, you’ll be excused for keeping this one a secret.
The founder of Riecine, John Dunkley, is an Englishman who became one of the most admired pioneering producers of Chianti Classico. The wines are created with artisanal care. They are harvested by hand, sorted out on a vibrating table, and crushed completely by foot. Riecine’s wines use ambient yeasts, with a long and slow fermentation in untreated cement tanks. All wines are separated by plot in order to maintain the perfect representation of each one, with their own individual characteristics and personalities.
