Description: The Château Gloria’s second wine. This wine is produced using the estate’s youngest vines. It is typical of the Saint-Julien appellation and is accessible rather earlier.
The Francisco family has been making wine in the Médoc since 1870, when they bought Château de la Croix, a Médoc Cru Bourgeois. In addition to this cru bourgeois, they also produce another Médoc, Château Pey-Martin.
Vineyard & location:
The Château Pey Martin is in the Northern part of the Médoc vineyard. The Gironde Estuary lies to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west. This geographical location , surrounded by water, protects the wines and moderates the climat. The soil is a mix of gravel and clayey limestone.
Harvest, vinification & ageing:
Traditional red Bordeaux with alcoholic fermentation and long maceration in stainless steel vats. Ageing in concrete vats to soften the tannins. 30% of the blend is aged in French oak barrels.
Tasting Note: Elegant aromas of blackcurrant, with liquorice and toasty notes. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and a smoky finish.
Château Pey-Martin goes very well with grilled beef or with traditional French and Italian cooking.
