Tinedo is the Alvarez-Arenas’ family estate. It has been dedicated to the production of wine in a traditional way for generations. The estate is made up of 49 hectares of vineyards in the heart of La Mancha. Growers and winemakers since 1742, the existing main house, tool sheds, winery, and gardens were built up in the late 19th century by their great grand mother. Manuel, Esperanza and Amparo Álvarez-Arenas, have lead from 2002 the renovation of the vineyard and the winemaking concepts behind Tinedo's wines, looking for the full expression of the oenological potential of the terroir. Tinedo has reinforced its social and environmental concerns, encouraging the sustainability as a model of agricultural, rural, and social development related to the culture of wine. A favourable climate allows for soft treatments in the vineyard with sulphur only twice a year and sulphur-copper once a year. Trellisage pruning system.
Mostly manual harvesting at the end of September. Fermentation temperature controlled at 25º in stainless steel tanks. Tanks are pumped twice a day, preventing oxidation of wine. 3 days of cold maceration and 7 days of alcoholic maceration. The whole process is carried out manually. Maceration time after fermentation is 7 days followed by Malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks, working with fine lees. Aged for 12 months in concrete tanks. Soft filtration when bottling.
Attractive purple cherry colour, with hues of blue. Expressive and well defined nose of flowers, cherry and strawberry as well a light hint of chocolate notes and spices (liquorice). A powerful palate with a good tannic balance and volume.
