Broken Heart is London Dry gin distilled in a small pot still with wheat and molasses base spirit. Eleven botanicals are added, including juniper, coriander seed, lemon peel, lavender, cardamom, cassia, cinnamon and angelica. The New Zealand alpine water gives this gin a captivating purity, and it is well balanced at 40% ABV.
The story of Broken Heart gin is about remembering a friend. Two German friends, Joerg and Bernd, were living in Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand. Both of them were philosophers and Master Distillers, and set out to make a superb gin together. Sadly, Bernd unexpectedly fell ill and tragically passed away. To commemorate his friend and to mark a new beginning, Joerg released Broken Heart gin.
Nose Piney as a result of the juniper. The added angelica gives this gin body and an earthy quality.
Palate Delicate botanicals, such as lavender and lemon peel ensure smoothness.
Finish finds the taste dissipate quickly, it is citrussy and extremely smooth on the finish.
