The Autumn Gold Collection | 12 Bottles
In this case you'll find some of our favourite wines of summer 2023. We asked our whole team to tell us their favourite wines of the whole summer so far. They told us and we compiled the following case of crackers.
Take a leap of faith. We hope you'll love these wines as much as we do!
Alegra, Verdejo
Rueda, Spain
2 x 75cl Bottles
The most proactive wine region in Spain today is surely Rueda. It is a desert like area that is located inland. The vines here are resistant to climate change and produce elegant wines, with great acidity even in really hot years. This is a consistent, fresh, elegant and refreshing wine with high acidity. It is mouthfilling and has great acidity – Great with roast dishes, salads and seafood. Our team loves it and it’s the go to bottle for the team on a Friday!
Tenute Sassoregale
Maremma Toscana, Italy
2 x 75cl Bottles
A 100% Sangiovese varietal wine from a vineyard located in Tuscany, just 5kms from the sea. There is a remarkable freshness, punctuated by depth, structure and backbone here. Most of the vines at this estate re Sangiovese, the signature grape variety of the area, known widely for Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti. Lesser known is Maremma Toscana and you’ll note that the character of black olive, with structure and depth is present in every single wine from the area. This is quite special indeed!
Castillo de Eneriz Reserva
Navarra, Spain
2 x 75cl Bottles
A reserve wine that is aged in barrique for 24 months. It is made by Irish Winemaker Fergal Tynan – One of his classic efforts of showcasing the wines of Navarra, next door to Rioja in Northern Spain. A full bodied, rich wine with warming spices and integrated oak flavours of coconut and spice. Delicious!
Mont Rocher Viognier
Languedoc, France
2 x 75cl Bottles
We know this one is a cracker as we find it in restaurants, and tables always go for second bottles. It is dry, with a lovely texture and freshness. The fruit sings her, but it's backed up with a cacophony of wonderful flavours and a lengthy finish.
Finca Manzanos Crianza
Haro, Rioja, Spain
2 x 75cl Bottles
This estate is the one to watch in 2025. Humble beginnings for the Manzanos family who converted their vineyard into a 9 story winery in the last few years. The family employs modern winemaking with new equipment and a dedication to purity and freshness in all of their wines. This is absolutely sensational – A Crianza that has freshness and purity at every level. While other Crianza wines will be young, owing to their commercial need to be sold in a world where storing wines until they are ready to drink costs shareholders too much money. Bodegas Manzanos don’t release their wines until they are fully ready to drink – doing all of the ageing before this on their watch, not yours!
Santa Margherita Lugana
Lake Garda, Italy
2 x 75cl Bottles
My favourite wine of the summer – This is from the banks of Lake Garda and enjoys a long growing season as the vines are met with a constant breeze all summer long from the open landscape around the lake. If you have not had Lugana from Italy you haven’t really tasted the great white wines that Italy is known for – There is rasping freshnessand minerality here and the wine is absolutely sublime. A really generous wine, bone dry with a crisp freshness that ingers long after you have swallowed the last dribble of the bottle!
