Some of the oldest Zinfandel vines grow in Amador County. One of Amador's most talented winemakers, Scott Harvey, signed on with Folie a Deux Winery, located in the heart of Napa Valley, in 1996. Since then, the winery has taken giant-sized steps in creating some of the best Zinfandels in California, using grapes from single vineyards in Amador's Shenandoah Valley. It's great to have grape connections!
From Amador county, all of the grapes are hand picked fermented and pressed to barrel separately. The wine is full ripe and rich and as with good Amador Zinfandels, it is balanced and not over powering. This handcrafted Zinfandel showcases rich, ripe blackberries and plums infused with clove, vanilla and anise spice. A powerful yet balanced mouth feel gives way to a silky smooth finish of spicy oak and juicy black cherry. This wine is ideal for a variety of meals including barbecued dishes and steak.
Red: Ruby red colour with violet tints showing its youth. On the nose it is fresh and elegant with characteristic aromas of cherry and red fruits typical of this variety. Light, harmonic and round on the palate with soft tannin.
