Ch. Angludet is always one of the most reliable châteaux. The rich concentration is so generous and rewarding. I love the sweetness at the front of the palate. Good depth, a bit of intensity and lovely tannins that harmoniously combine with an appealing acidity on the finish. Often described as a traditionalist's wine, this is actually rather delicious. Cabernet provides the power here, but it is so restrained, floral, perfumed and flavoursome. Margaux performed very well in 2015 and this wine is reflective of the quality of the vintage. Given that the price is always appropriate to the quality of the wine here, we have no hesitation in recommending it.

Big earthy fruit though a touch leathery, with old vines evident in structure and depth. Here the time and effort is spent in the vineyards and barrel room. 30 years ago, the estate was one of the first in the region to adopt biodynamic practices, and has seen quality accelerate in recent years. The vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (2%). 2010 was a great year for Bordeaux as a whole and this is reflected in an exceptional release from Angludet which is starting to hit its peak. This 7 hectare vineyard on the limestone hillside of Saint Emilion adjoins Ausone and has the same winemaker. The Vauthier family have owned it since 1921. Around 2,500 cases are produced annually from vines that average around 35 years old.

Its eponymous wine, Château Moulin Saint-Georges, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, comes from vines over 30 years old planted on clay-limestone soils. Vineyard practices are traditional and the grapes are harvested by hand. In the winery, only the finest grapes are selected and fermented with indigenous yeasts in thermoregulated stainless steel vats for a total of 4 to 5 weeks. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months.

With a limited production of about 25 barrels per year, Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a magnificent red wine that exemplifies the full potential borne of the exceptional terroirs of Saint-Émilion. It's plusher and opulent than it showed then, with layers of black cherry, cassis fruit, orange pith and glycerine.
