Description:

There is no definitive theory about the origin of the Albariño grape. Some winemakers and experts maintain that it was introduced to Galicia in the 13th century by the monks of Cluny, who came from France. According to this hypothesis, the grape adapted perfectly to the Atlantic climate and the granitic soils of the region, giving it its characteristic mineral profile.

However, scientific studies and genetic analysis have shown that Albariño is most likely a native Galician variety. This research suggests that the grape was already present in Galicia long before the arrival of the religious order, reinforcing the idea that Albariño originated in this land. Whatever its true origin, it has found its ideal habitat in Galicia, allowing for the production of fresh, balanced wines with great personality.
